What to expect in a treatment
During the intake we will discuss your concerns and goals for your treatment. Your intake involve targeted questions to help determine what other internal imbalances you might have. In traditional Chinese medicine facial analysis is used to determine internal imbalances. For example, frown lines between your eyebrows point towards an imbalance with liver energy, dark circles under your eyes can lead us to ask questions to determine the health of your kidney energy. Beauty is the exterior manifestation of interior health, you never look your best when you are feeling unwell. The key to facial rejuvenation acupuncture is to focus on your overall health and beauty will follow closely behind.
Once your TCM pattern has been determined and specific acu points have been chosen for your treatment, very fine needles will be inserted into points on your body as well as your face. Needles will also be placed in fine lines and wrinkles causing a natural production of collagen which creates a softening of lines and wrinkles.
After resting with the needles for 30 minutes your treatment will include a brief facial massage and guasha using a jade tool. Acupuncture facial gua sha is a simple and gentle massage technique that increases the circulation and lymphatic flow in your face. The guasha tool allows us to get deeper into the fascia than by massaging with fingers alone. Cosmetic acupuncture leaves you looking and feeling your best.
How many treatments are needed?
Visible results can be seen after the first treatment. Dramatic and long lasting changes generally occur with a series of 10-12 sessions. For most patients I recommend beginning with acupuncture facial treatments 1-2 times a week.
My facial treatments leave me looking and feeling great. My skin was glowing after my first session and I noticed a big improvement with the circles under my eyes after a couple more sessions.
